A Day on Moreton Island

I had been meaning to book a day trip to Moreton Island for so long. I finally decided to go for it the Tuesday after Easter. The kids would be back at school and it wouldn't be too busy. The bus was to leave at 6.30am, which meant my alarm would be going off at 5am. I was up and dressed remarkably quickly, especially seeing as I hadn't slept that well. I'd packed my bag the night before and so all I needed was breakfast. I only had enough milk for my porridge, so no cuppa. I grabbed my water and sandwich from the fridge and headed out the doorm Despite consulting the map several times, I still managed to get confused and walk the wrong way. Luckily, I had a feeling I'd mess up so left early. My little mishap did get me a quick glance at the sunrise though. Going in the right direction, I arrived just on time, at 6.15. There were only a few people waiting and I leant against the wall earwigging a conversation between some rather to do English girls. One was boasting

My First Week in Brisbane

Arrived surprisingly on time, seeing as we left Surfers 10mins late. I stayed awake for the entirety of the journey, I'm proud of myself for that! By the time we had got off the bus and grabbed bags, it was pushing 7.15pm. The hostel was only an 8min walk, according to Google, so we'd see how quickly I went wrong. I didn't go wrong as such, but there was probably a much quicker route than the one I took! I arrived at Nomads and checked in, they had a pretty old lift which I was a bit unsure of using. But, I was on the third floor though and didn't feel like dragging my bag. I got to room 320, only for my key not to work. Fantastic. All the way back downstairs again, the receptionist was very apologetic and sorted me out. Second time round my key worked just fine and I realised I'd been upgraded. Even though I'd paid for a 10 share dorm, this one definitely only had 6 beds. Sweet! I dumped my bag, taking out the essentials - my pjs, chargers and a ja

Loka: Stop 4: A Day in Surfers Paradise

I had a small panic when I woke up, had an email from Loka that just would not load and I was so worried I'd missed the bus. Luckily, I had Jordi's number, and she reassured me it was still a 9am pick up. Phew. Now I could eat my breakfast, pack up the last of my things and check out. I was pretty early, but so was Jordi. Just as I started walking to the bus stop, the rain started. I was picked up from the corner instead and together we struggled to open the door in the pouring rain. It wasn't to be, we practically threw my bag through the back door and I climbed over the passenger seat, soaking wet, to plonk myself down. What a start to the day! Jordi was so sweet, she offered me gum and told me about the fun they'd been having over the last week. Apparently, people had been shouting and screaming down the phones and demanding transport. I find this behaviour despicable, it's not their fault! She was no longer a Loka Tour Guide, she worked in the office, but
